With a recommendation from Sean Heather, we were brought on by bar enthusiast Lewis Hart to help with a redesign and permitting for this clever liquor primary restaurant concept. Concentration of efforts was to create a small dumpling shop “storefront” that would provide a hidden entry into the Cocktail Parlour behind.
The narrow space was a previously existing restaurant so the kitchen was mostly kept the same to save time and money (no additional fire suppression or mechanical consultants needed and no K2 letter required). METRIC was involved with the redesign of the bar layout, addition of the dividing wall, occupant load and VCH and COV approvals, and coordinating the complete furniture and finishes overhaul. London UK interior design firm Bergman Interiors, provided the rich concept, beautiful finishes and exquisite lighting package.
Laowai / Blnd Tger was named 2022 Best New Bar (#4 of 100) on Canada’s 100 Best List.
