Creekside Community Recreation Centre & Child Care

Scott C. Mitchell, Project Architect and Associate @ Francl Architecture

Located on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Olympic Village, this community centre houses a spacious lobby and administration area, fitness and meeting rooms, a dance studio, a Gymnasium, and a non motorized boating centre. The third floor is a 69 child Childcare with extensive outdoor play area.  The building also includes a restaurant and an underground parking level.  The seawall, which runs along the north side of the building, provides easy access for cyclists and pedestrians. Used during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games as a media centre, the facility was returned to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation for conversion to a state-of-the-art community centre in 2010.

The project was designed in collaboration with Nick Milkovich Architects Inc. and received LEED Platinum certification.
