Sliding Door Renovation

Scott Mitchell @Metric Architecture

After a visit to the Capitol Hill House in Burnaby, this client tracked us down to improve his house’s relationship to his beautiful “backyard” pool. Instead of two sets of traditional French doors a wide multi-slide door was proposed. The removal of a wall separating a home office and the family room opened up a 20 foot length along the South exterior wall. A new flush steel beam was required for the span and desired design of floor to ceiling glass. A new modern double sided gas fireplace returns some clear definition of the home office space. The scope of work grew to include various upstair bedroom reconfigurations and a new landscaped front entrance path.
